Lawyer profiles show professional information from official records, with the source of each fact. Claim requests and contact messages are never published.

Does LexRanked use cookies?

The public website sets no cookies and loads no third-party analytics, advertising or social media scripts. The only cookie is a sign-in cookie for profile owners who sign in to their account.

The sign-in cookie (lr_owner) is strictly necessary: it is set only when a profile owner signs in, only on the account pages, holds a random code, and expires after 30 days or when you sign out. Profile views and contact clicks are counted as daily totals without cookies or any identifier. Fonts are served from our own website. A profile may link to Google Maps; Google receives information only if you click that link and leave our site. If you buy a paid plan, Stripe's checkout and billing pages, which are run by Stripe, use their own cookies to process the payment securely.

Who receives my information?

Only the service providers that run the website for us, such as our hosting and email delivery providers, and only to provide that service.

  • We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Lawyers do not receive the email address or other details of people who review them.
  • We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid court order.
  • Our providers: Vercel (website hosting), Cloudflare (network security and delivery), OVHcloud (servers and email), Stripe (payments) and OpenAI (help with reading public sources and drafting text, under our editors' review).
  • Some of them process information in the United States. Transfers rely on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.

On what basis do you use my information?

Because you asked us to (reviews, claims, messages, paid plans), because the law requires it (invoices), because you consented (profile photo), and because of our legitimate interest in publishing accurate, source-backed information about licensed lawyers.

LexRanked is operated from the European Union, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies. The bases are:

  • Performing what you asked for or a contract (Art. 6(1)(b)): reviews, profile claims, contact messages and paid plans.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): invoices and accounting records.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): publishing your profile photo and emails about plans. You can withdraw it at any time; the photo is then removed and the emails stop.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): publishing professional information about licensed lawyers from official records so people can compare them, telling lawyers once that their profile exists, keeping the site secure, and defending legal claims. You can object, as explained below.

What are my rights?

You can ask to see, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and object to how we use it; we answer every request, wherever you live.

  • Access and copy: ask what we hold about you.
  • Correction: lawyers can correct profile facts by sending the official source; reviewers can ask us to fix their review.
  • Deletion: ask us to remove your review or your personal information.
  • Objection: object to processing based on our legitimate interest. We then stop, unless our reasons clearly outweigh your interests, and tell you our decision and why.
  • Withdrawing consent: withdraw your consent to a profile photo at any time; it does not affect what was done before.
  • Complaint: you can complain to the Polish data protection authority (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, uodo.gov.pl), or to the authority where you live or work.

Send a request through the contact form with the topic “Privacy request”. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on it, and we will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

I am a lawyer. Why is my profile on LexRanked?

Because your license and professional details are public in the official bar record; we publish them, with their source, so people can compare lawyers on facts.

Where the information comes from: state bar and court records, other official registries, your firm's own website (only the structured data it publishes about itself) and what you send us after claiming your profile. Each fact on a profile names its source.

What we publish: professional information only (name, license, office, practice areas, certifications, education, languages and the ranking positions calculated from them). We do not publish your home address, personal phone number or anything about your private life.

You can claim your profile for free to request corrections, or contact us to object. Claiming or objecting never changes a ranking position by itself; positions come only from the published methodology.

How is my information protected?

The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), confirmation links are stored only as one-way codes, and access to forms data is limited to editors.

No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we keep only what we need and delete it on the schedule above.

Is LexRanked meant for children?

No. LexRanked is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Will this policy change?

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
